Top Beauty Bits You’ll Love When You’re Short On Time

by Emily

If you want to look good but don’t have the time (or inclination) to spend hours getting ready, it can be tricky to know which makeup and beauty bits will do the job. But fear not, I’ve gathered some of my favourite go-to products which are easy to use, quick to apply, and wonderfully flattering to wear. They don’t need any separate tools for application, and if you’re feeling confident you don’t even need a mirror for some of it!

bareMinerals Complexion Rescue

This multitasking tinted moisturiser combines buildable sheer to medium coverage with all-day hydration and mineral-based SPF30 protection. I usually just apply it with my fingers, and it’s amazingly glowy and flattering. Plus it’s vegan and available in 20 shades, so you’re sure to find just the right one for you.

Lipstick Queen in Frog Prince

Don’t panic, it’s not green. In fact, it changes into a soft but buildable pink when you apply it, so it looks slightly different on different people. It’s also wonderfully moisturising, and since the colour is quite subtle unless you layer it up, you don’t necessarily need a mirror to apply it. Just my kind of thing!

Ayu Easy Brow Pencil

Looking for better brows? Not a fan of the ‘high definition’ look? This retractable brow pencil doesn’t need any sharpening, extra tools or templates. It’s lovely and slim so it’s easy to create natural-looking brows, plus it’s vegan friendly and hypoallergenic. I usually find it hard to find the right brow products, so this has quickly become my go-to.

Benefit Playtint Lip & Cheek Stain

I fell in love with using a lip & cheek stain when I got one in a Birchbox delivery, then I discovered that it was an Australian brand that’s difficult to source in Ireland. Damn it! Luckily all is forgiven now I’ve found this gorgeous product by Benefit. A little goes a long way, and it gives just the right subtle boost of colour which can last all day.

Batiste Dry Shampoo

With an increasingly active baby (he can’t crawl yet, but does love to explore with a sort of ‘backstroke’ move which sends him headfirst towards peril) it is tricky to find time to wash my hair often during the week. But who cares? I have dry shampoo to make it look and smell fresh and gorgeous! It can even subtly disguise your roots if you choose the ‘hint of colour’ editions.

Remember…

It’s all about the base, so finding a good serum (I love No7) and moisturiser (I love CeraVe) which suit your skin type can do a lot of the work for you. Phew! I also read some great advice that it’s not just about choosing the right products, it’s also about choosing products that you’ll actually use regularly – there’s no point having some fancy cream you’re saving for a special occasion.
